Antioxidants accelerate cancer development

Scientists from the University of Gothenburg say that people with high risk cancer patients should limit consumption of antioxidants.

Experiments on mice and human volunteers showed that these substances enhance metastasis.

Previously, scientists have suggested the antioxidants as a protection against cancer that can be caused by free radicals. However, it turned out that they protect the healthy cells and the cancer. As a result, they can continue to freely share. Especially apparent acceleration of the cancer process in lung cancer and a doubling of the rate of metastasis in melanoma.

This study is relevant for today's situation when melanoma is one of the most common types of cancer. Influence of antioxidants on it is possible not only through food supplements, but also when using various cosmetic and hygienic products for the skin.
