Social status affects survival with cancer

Researchers from Alabama reviewed statistics on 5 541 person with a diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia. They found that some of the patients the risk of death in this disease was higher.

A particularly strong influence on survival, according to scientists, having the availability of insurance, level of income and family well-being.

Researchers believe that these factors determine the possibility of obtaining social and material support required to overcome the disease.

For example, in USA people who do not have insurance of a certain level, you have to work, despite the severity of the symptoms, to pay the bills. If no family, then there is no moral or material support.
