Scientists have discovered a method for the treatment of brain cancer

Brain cancer often causes death because of their aggressiveness. Scientists have been searching for methods of treatment. Particular attention doctors pay to find a cure for diffuse malignant brain tumor that cannot be operated on because of the peculiarities of its location.

The initial treatment of these tumors they react to it, but quickly adapt and find the molecular and genetic route of the bypass, continuing growth.

Scientists from the hospital of Cincinnati are experimenting with gene therapy. It consists in the suppression of gene Olig2. This gene encodes proteins that are found in most malignant gliomas. Studies have shown that deletion of this gene stops the growth of tumors, the elimination of cells that produce Olig2 leads to blocking the formation of tumors.

This approach represents a conservative treatment of brain cancer. However, it requires further development and study, so clinical trials are really only a few years.
