Leukemia out of the tube

Scientists of the clinic of mount Sinai has created leukemia in vitro. The results of experiments become stem cells, which scientists have found mechanisms for the development of one of the varieties of the disease, particularly juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia.

So far the only method of treatment remains bone marrow transplantation, which is effective only in half of the cases.

Studying disease at the level of stem cells will help to understand the mechanism of its development and to create new, effective methods of treatment.
